DoublIng Down:
Players can double their stake, on two card hard totals
of 9, 10 or 11. In this option, the player can take only
one more card and must then stand on his hand without
further play. Simply place an equal amount of chips next
to your first bet.
Splitting:
Players can split two cards of the same value - say 8
and 8, and play two separate hands, duplicating the first
bet on the second hand. Totals which can be split are
A-A, 2-2, 3-3, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8 and 9-9. The two hands are
then played out in the normal way against the dealer's
hand. Note that if you split aces, you can take only one
card on each hand, and if you are dealt a 10 or a court
card, on either of those aces, it counts as 21 and not
Blackjack and is paid even money if it wins. It can happen
that after splitting a hand, the player is dealt another
card of the same value - in which case he can split the
hand yet again, and so on.

This explains why Blackjack is such a fascinating game,
especially for players who like a challenge at cards.
