Roulette
Roulette is the queen of casino games. The spin and sparkle of the wheel as the ball ricochets round the rim has fascinated players ever since the modern game came into favour a century and a half ago.
The stacks of glistening chips, counted out by the dealer to the lucky winners, highlight the appeal of Roulette. At no other gambling game can players win so much, so fast.
Basic play
The wheel has 36 numbers plus zero. This means that there
are a variety of bets which you can make at roulette.
A single number pays out at odds of 35-1. If a player
were to back all the linked bets around it, in the example
below No. 17, and the number came up, the payout would
amount to an amazing 135 pieces. The different kinds of
bets you can make are shown on the Roulette Bets page.
First step: At the roulette table, the dealer will exchange
your money or cash chips for colour chips. These are your
chips and no one else can play with them. Maximum and
minimum stakes are displayed at every table. When you
decide to leave the table, the dealer will change your
colour chips.
Second Step: The dealer announces "Place your bets, please!".
This is when you place your chips on the layout, wherever
you choose. If you cannot reach the far end of the table,
the dealer will place them for you and the inspector at
the end of the table will call the bets out loud. The
dealer will tell players when to stop placing bets by
calling out "No more bets please!". When the ball has
finally come to rest, the dealer calls out the number
and its colour and places a plastic marker over the winning
number, so all the players can see it clearly.
